military and veterans affairs

The men and women of the military have also been grossly mistreated by the current political environment; they are used as a 'hot button issue' during a political campaign and are ignored or patronized until the next political cycle.

Our military men and women volunteer to defend our nation and our families, and for this extreme sacrifice or service, they are ill equipped, underpaid, and treated with disregard and indifference. Their equipment is outdated or only nominally functional, and funds are not forthcoming to repair or replace it because of a call for lower government spending.

Scorned for the job they do, by some of those who claim to regard them so highly, they work for a miserly salary, grudgingly given to them by men and women safely out of harms way who make more in a year than some will make during the course of their military career.

Their benefits routinely cut in a call for decreased government spending, though the legislature's benefits are secure. All this done while we ask more and more of them, and as they are given less and less, including respect and gratitude.

Those who volunteer their lives for our family's protection deserve better pay better benefits, and the best equipment regardless of cost. There is no justification that explains why any monetary cost is too high to protect the life of even a single U.S. service member.
